Palm Beach Film Festival Cruise
The
Palm Beach Film Festival sponsored its first cruise, a get-together for
film buffs and wanna-be-movie stars since many who went on this Carnival
cruise became extras for a pilot of a movie to be made by world-famous
director and producer of 43 films (“Get Shorty,” Look Who’s
Talking” etc., ) Jonathan
Krane. An
added benefit to having Jonathan Krane as one of the hosts, besides his
expertise which he’s glad to share, and his fame (which I’m sure
he’s glad to bask in), is that he’s married to the beautiful and
talented smash from M*A*S*H Sally Kellerman. Sally did a special cabaret
performance on board, and you could see that not only are those lips still
hot, but the music emanating from them, divine. The
cruise was arranged by Fugazy
International Travel, with rates starting
at $329. They worked hard to upgrade and please everyone, and succeeded.
The same can be said of the Carnival.
OK, the ship isn’t one most of us Palm Beachers would generally choose,
but considering the price, it was a fantastic bargain. And even the
rich love a bargain. It
was a short cruise, 5 days & 4 nights (or what I call a 5 day 4-pound
cruise) to the Riviera Maya in Mexico and Key West. Throughout, 200 of us
from the film group basked in the entertainment and especially the food.
Indeed, the quality, variety and quantity of the food was so lavish, you
knew that they had to make money on something other than the price of the
cruise. Sure
enough, not only were they selling everything you’d expect, for example,
liquor, but unusual items like teeth whitening ($199) and even the sheets
they had on the bed! (Not Egyptian cotton but comfortable enough
that one would consider buying it.) All in all, a well-arranged, nice experience on a pleasant ship at an amazing price with a fun group. So let’s hope this becomes a regular Palm Beach Film Festival event. |
